Bloomer, Wisconsin is a historic river town which had its beginnings in 1848 when a man named Bloomer decided to build a dam and a mill on Duncan Creek. He didn't finish the project, but others did, and the village of Bloomer was settled in 1855. Lake Como, a 100 acre lake, runs through the present day city. Its beach and beach house are newly renovated. Bloomer features four parks, an eighteen hole golf course, and snowmobile trails.
Located on US Hwy 53 and state highways 40 and 64, Bloomer has three industrial parks. The 65 acre Ironhorse Industrial Park offers affordable land prices and rail service. Manufacturing facilities, Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System, and the Bloomer School District are major sources of employment in the city. A thriving business dictrict with stores and restaurants serves the needs of residents.
Bloomer has gained national fame as America's swingingest town. The Rope Jump Contest marked its 50th anniversary this year. Held on the last Saturday of January of each year, the speed rope jumping contest attracts contestants nationwide who constantly challenge speed jumping records.
